DODGE CITY, Kan. — Suain Moncayo scored in the second half, but Seward County men's soccer came up short in a 4-1 loss to the ninth ranked Barton Cougars on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The game was played at Dodge City's Memorial Stadium due to ongoing renovations at the Cougars home field.
Barton (8-3-2, 3-2-1 KJCCC) scored twice before halftime and used two more in the second half to pull away. Moncayo put the Saints (4-5-0, 0-5-0) on the board midway through the period in the 63rd minute off a setup from Jevic Mwanza, marking Seward's only goal of the afternoon.
Goalkeeper Miguel Kwiatkowski had four saves for the Saints, who totaled 12 shots themselves, including two on target. Simone Pitale and Chad Haynes each recorded a pair of attempts.
Seward falls to 0-2 this season vs. the Cougars after previously losing 4-0 at home in the conference opener.
The Saints will look to rebound in their next conference match, traveling to third ranked Cowley for a 7:30 p.m. match on Wednesday in Arkansas City.
