Perez Picks Up KJCCC Division I Player of the Week Honor
Seward softball freshman utility player Amithys Perez was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Week 13 Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Perez, a sophomore out of Wolfforth, Texas, becomes the second Saint this season to win Player of the Week honors after Taylor Harding won in week one.
Perez had a strong week at the plate for the Saints, helping SCCC to a 2-2 week, which included a doubleheader sweep of Colby. Perez hit .500 (seven-for-14) at the plate, driving in 10 runs and recorded at least one RBI in all four of the Saints' games. Three of the four games were multi-hit games for Perez, including a three-hit outing in the first game of the week against Colby with six RBI and two runs scored, while also recording two-hit performances in game two against Colby and the final game of the week against Dodge City. Defensively, Perez was perfect in all nine of her chances in left field.
In the six RBI effort vs. Colby, Perez tallied a two-run single, double and home run.
On the season, Perez is hitting .331 with a team-high 45 RBIs and 12 doubles.
The Saints travel to Garden City on Wednesday afternoon for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
