Marchino Nabs 2nd KJCCC Player of the Week Honor

Seward County women's basketball sophomore guard Avery Marchino has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women's Basketball Week 13 Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Marchino earns the award for a second time this season with the first honor coming in week three.

The sophomore from Yukon, Okla., helped the Lady Saints to a 2-0 week with a 100-58 home win over Pratt Wednesday and a 81-41 road win at Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Sunday.

On the week, Marchino averaged 24.5 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game. Marchino posted double-doubles in both games, scoring 26 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in the win over Pratt before scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds at Fort Hays Tech. She shot 19-27 (70.3%) from the field on the week, also dishing out five assists.

Marchino leads the league in scoring (19.8 points per game) and ranks ninth in the league with 7.4 rebounds per game. She has 14 games of 20 or more points this season.
