Silva Named NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week
LIBERAL, Kan. – After being named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, Seward County volleyball sophomore outside hitter Mariana Silva was named the NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Silva becomes the first Saint from any sport this season to be named a national player of the week.
Seward earned its highest ranked win dating back to the spring 2021 season on Wednesday when they handed No. 9 Colby its first conference loss this year. Silva played a big part in that, landing 22 kills on 55 attempts (.291) and adding six digs and a block. In the Saints 3-1 loss to Garden City on Saturday at home, Silva finished with a double-double as she put together 16 kills to go with 15 digs and two solo blocks.
