Mestres Earns Third Career NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week Honors
Liberal, Kansas – After winning his fourth straight KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors of the 2024 season, Bruno Mestres was recognized on a national scale once again with his third career NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week honor and the second of this season.
Mestres over the past week appeared in front of the goal for a total of 145:00 minutes with 55:00 against Kansas Wesleyan for a 2-0 win with 2 saves and this past Saturday in a 1-0 loss to Dodge City where Mestres recorded an additional 10 saves. Mestres currently leads the Jayhawk conference with 47 total saves with a .940 save percentage which ranks top five nationally in both categories in the NJCAA.
Seward County currently sits at 2-2-3 on the 2024 season with a conference record of 0-1-3 heading into their matchup with Tabor College tonight on Redskin Field with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 PM. They will follow their final home game of September with five straight road games to end the month and to begin October beginning with a game against the Coffeyville Red Ravens on Saturday.
