NJCAA Names Mestres as National Goalkeeper of the Week
Liberal, Kansas – Following his fourth KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week honor twenty-four hours ago, sophomore goalkeeper Bruno Mestres was recognized on a national scale with the NJCAA naming him the National Goalkeeper of the Week on September 4th.
In two games for the Saints, Mestres recorded a total of 9 saves with 0 goals allowed in 135:00 minutes manning the goal. He started the week off with 6 saves against Kansas City Kansas in a game that ended in a 0-0 tie before recording 3 more saves in a 4-0 win for SCCC over Lamar this past Sunday. This is the second time in his career at Seward County that Mestres has earned NJCAA National Goalkeeper of the Week honors to go with four KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
"I am very excited for Bruno" said Head Coach Jaime Beltran. "He has put in so much work on the field to help us protect the goal and to earn this honor on a national scale shows how good he is".
Seward County is on the road tonight as they head east to take on the #3 Cowley Tigers in a 7:00 PM matchup.
