Mestres Earns Third Career KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week Honors
Liberal, Kansas – For the third time in his collegiate career with Seward County, Bruno Mestres has earned KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after a dominant performance to protect the goal in the Saints 2024 season opener this past Sunday.
Mestres showed off his skill set as a high-level goalkeeper on Sunday in Seward County's season-opening match against Laramie County by making six emphatic saves for a .857 save percentage while playing all 90 minutes in a 1-0 Saints loss to the Golden Eagles. The lone goal for Laramie County came in the 81st minute on a goal with SCCC attempting to clear a cross in front of the net.
This is the third time Mestres has earned the honor after earning it twice as a freshman as well as earning NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week once as a freshman.
Seward County will return to action this Wednesday on August 28th to take on Kansas City Kansas in their conference opener with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 PM on Redskin Field.
