ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – The struggles continued for the Seward County Community College men's basketball as it fell at Cowley College, 88-69, on Saturday.
The Saints remained winless in conference play at 0-2 and 1-6 overall. Seward returns home to host Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Greenhouse.
After keeping the Saints kept it close in the first half, trailing only by two at the half, 43-41, it was all the Tigers in the second stanza. Cowley opened with a 5-0 run and never looked back.
Seward was hurt by turnovers, committing 30 for the game, including 18 in the second half.
Trayon Grant-Foster, who returned from an injury, led the Saints with 18 points. Benni Kazadi added 13 points and Kiku Parker scored nine for Seward.
Shamarrie Hughie had a game-high 28 points, Marcus Ziegler scored 14 and Emarquis Jones added 10 points for Cowley, which remained unbeaten in conference play at 2-0 and improved to 7-1 overall.
