Saints Esports Weekly Recap (2/9-2/12)

The Saints Esports team returned for their first competition of the spring semester with the start of their regular season this week. Head Coach Eric Volden noted, "It's nice to be back but sickness has been our biggest opponent these last couple of weeks. My guys have been battling what seems to be a particularly nasty flu season this semester.  We have been disinfecting and carrying on. We're looking forward to all being healthy again."

Marvel Rivals

The Rivals team (Jess Johnson, Eli Hackett, Tien Nguyen, Gerson Alaniz, Oscar Gonzalez, and Edward Rios) were up against Missouri State University – White Plains this week.  The Rivals team just couldn't find any traction against the MSU squad and lost on the night 0 – 3.  They start the season at 0 – 1.

Fortnite

Henry Perez and Alexis Armanderiz were forced to take on their fellow Saints team of Jess Johnson and Eli Hackett.  It was back and forth all night as both teams raced for points. In the End, Johnson and Hackett came out on top. Fortnite White team moves to 1 – 0 while Fortnite Black team drops to 0 – 1.

Madden NFL:

Akele Powdrill took on Edgecombe Community College, putting up good numbers against the ECC player. Powdrill won his matchup 2 - 0. His record starts at 1 - 0.

Results from Thursday 02-12-26

Mario Kart:

Juan Acevedo raced against Wichita State University Tech for his first match of the season.  Unfortunately, he couldn't catch up with the WSU Tech player and fell in his set.  He starts the season at 0 – 1

Jess Johnson and Edward Rios were pitted against each other for their first race.  Johnson got the better of Rios in a 4 – 1 set.  Johnson moves to 1 – 0, Rios starts 0 – 1.

Adam Johnston took on Finger Lakes Community College in his matchup.  Johnston showed some early fight, but in the end, the FLCC player took the match.  In a second chance race, Johnston queued in against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to redeem his earlier set.  Unfortunately, Johnston couldn't overtake MGCCC.  He starts his season 0 – 2.
