Saints Esports Weekly Recap (10/20-10/23)

The Seward Esports team put forth another strong week of competition. Check out the weekly recap below.

Monday:

Marvel Rivals:

The Saints Rivals team (Tien Nguyen, Joseph Peppa, Benjamin Washburn, Marcos Montoya, Nicolas Benson, and Angel Roberts) took on Herkimer County Community College in a bid to save the multiverse. The Saints put on a dominating showing, easily handing the HCCC crew a lost. The Saints won the set 3 - 0. Their record improves to 3 - 2.

Tuesday:

Smash Brothers -

The Smash White team (Tien Nguyen) fought off his opponent from Wake Tech Community College handily last night, taking a quick 3 sets off his opponent. He won 3 - 0. His record improves to 4 - 1 on the season.

The Smash Black Team (Emir Darza) had a rougher time against Navarro Community College in his set. Darza couldn't overcome the reach and power of the NCC player and fell 0 - 3. Darza's record drops to 2 - 3.

Fortnite -

The Fortnite Black team (Henry Perez and Osiel Ventura) continued to show why they're defending national champs last night with another dominating performance. They were up against Alvin Community College and never slowed down once the match started. They won the set 2 - 0 and remain undefeated on the season so far at 5 - 0.

The Fortnite White team (Jess Johnson and Alexis Armandariz) had a tougher time against Marshalltown. The two teams traded the first two sets, but in the end, the MCC crew came out with the W. The Saints lost 1 - 2. The White team's record moves to 2 - 3

The Fortnite Green team (Eli Hackett and Cameron Walker) had a fairly easy go versus Rose State College. The RSC crew ran into trouble soon in both rounds, causing early eliminations on their part. Walker and Hackett claimed the victory 2 - 0. Their record improves to 3 - 2 on the season.

Wednesday:

Mario Kart 4v4

The Saints MK 4v4 team (Emir Darza, Joshua Vazquez, Juan Acevedo, and Edward Rios) raced against Marshalltown in a bid for the checkered flag. Unfortunately, the Saints couldn't find their positions and fell to the MCC crew 0 - 2. Their record stands at 3 - 2.

Madden NFL

The Saints Black team (Ricky Olguin) had a tough opponent at Hudson Valley Community College. Olguin couldn't break through the HVCC defense and lost the set 0 - 2. His record is 0 - 5.

Saints Green team (Akele Powdrill) took his opponent from Northwest College to task in a pair of decisive wins. Powdrill took the set 2 - 0. He remains undefeated on the season 5 - 0.

Overwatch 2

The Saints OW2 team (Edwardo Mata, Rogelio Esquibel, Jess Johnson, Eli Hackett, and Nicolas Benson) got the chance to play against Northwest Florida State College. I was a tough back and forth, with both teams battling it out to the fullest. In the end, the Saints fell 2 - 3. Their record is 0 - 2 on the season.

Thursday:

COD Gunfight -

The Saints Gunfight team (Angel Alba and Nicolas Benson) squared up against Highland Community College on Thursday. It was a tight set, with both teams trading wins. In the end, the SCCC crew fell to HCC 2 - 3. Their record drops to 3 - 2.

Streetfighter 6 -

Johnathan Dominguez fought off his opponent from Lakes Region State College with a 4 - 0 victory. His record is 3 - 2.

Rocket League -

The Rocket League duo (Asher Waite and Brian Amador) took on Iowa Western Community College for their set. The IWCC team proved why they sit near the top of the leaderboards, shutting down the Saints 0 - 3. Rocket League duo's record is 3 - 2

Mario Kart solos -

Jess Johnson raced against Luzerne College in a tight set. Johnson came away with the checkered flag, beating LCC 4 - 2. His record goes to 4 - 1.

Juan Acevedo was up against SUNY Jamestown. He easily handled his opponent 4 - 0. His record is 3 - 2.

Joshua Vasquez took off against Finger Lakes State College. He won his set 4 - 0. His record is 4 - 1.

Edward Rios and Bret Lyon were forced to race against each other last night for their late season matchup. Rios got the better of Lyon, winning the set 4 - 1. Rios record is 3 - 2. Lyon's record is 2 - 3.
