Saints Welcome Miku Murayama as Assistant Athletic Trainer

LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College Athletics is excited to announce the addition of Miku Murayama as the new Assistant Athletic Trainer. Murayama joins the Saints after completing her Master of Science in Athletic Training at Winona State University and brings a diverse background in collegiate athletics, rehabilitation, emergency care, and student-athlete wellness.

Murayama is a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer. Her experience spans multiple collegiate athletic settings and includes football, women's ice hockey, softball, basketball, baseball, track and field, cross country, gymnastics, and soccer.

Murayama has provided comprehensive athletic training services, including injury evaluation, concussion assessment, therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation programming, taping, and game-day medical coverage. While working with Coe College Football as part of an immersion experience program, she independently directed rehabilitation programs for athletes recovering from shoulder dislocations and ACL injuries while also traveling with the team.

At Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Murayama served as the primary athletic training student for women's ice hockey and softball while assisting with several other sports. She developed rehabilitation plans utilizing techniques such as cupping, Graston, and aquatic therapy.

Murayama's commitment to athlete care extends beyond the collegiate setting. She volunteered at the Hula Bowl in Orlando, worked with athletes at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, and provided athlete-centered support during the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

A native of Chiba, Japan, Murayama earned her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Winona State University in 2025 after completing prerequisite coursework at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and earning a Bachelor of Business degree from Teikyo Heisei University in Tokyo, Japan, in 2022.

She joins Head Athletic Trainer Liz Hill on the SCCC Athletic Training staff.
