    A month after earning Most Valuable Player and First Team All-Jayhawk Conference, Seward County volleyball player Luz Sierra can add another accolade to her list of awards: NJCAA First Team All-American.

    The historic post-season run by the Seward County volleyball team came to an end on Saturday, falling to the Iowa Western Reivers in the 3rd place match at the NJCAA National Tournament 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 23-25, 23-25).

    The championship run came to an end Friday night for the Seward County volleyball team, falling in the NJCAA National Tournament Final Four to the College of Southern Idaho 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22).
  • Lady Saints Advance To National Semifinals

    For the first time in program history, the Seward County volleyball team has reached the NJCAA National Tournament Semifinals after winning their matches against Snow (25-10, 25-16, 26-24) and Polk State (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 21-25, 16-14).
  • Six Lady Saints Named All-Conference; Sierra Named MVP

    A second straight undefeated season for the Seward County volleyball team, where they lead the conference in virtually every offensive category led to another season of the Lady Saints running away with the KJCCC All-Conference Awards. Six Lady Saints were named All-Conference, while Head Coach Tony Trifonov was named Coach of the Year.
  • Lady Saints Win Region VI Championship; Advance to NJCAA National Tournament

    For the second time in three years, the Seward County volleyball team will be heading to the NJCAA National Tournament after defeating the Hutchinson Blue Dragons to claim the Region VI Championship. Seward had to battle through Barton, winning in four sets (25-23, 22-25, 25-14, 25-14) before sweeping Hutchinson in the championship match 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.  It marked the fourth consecutive year that the two programs had met in the Region VI Championship.
  • Lady Saints Volleyball Advances to Region VI Semifinals

    For a fourth consecutive year, the Seward County volleyball team will be heading to the Region VI semifinals, this year, taking down the 8th seeded Dodge City Conquistadors in consecutive sets 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.
  • Lady Saints Complete Perfect Conference Season; Wins Jayhawk Outright

    For the second straight year, the Seward County volleyball team won the Jayhawk West Conference outright, defeating the second-place Colby Trojans in four sets, 25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22.  This marks the second time in program history that the Lady Saints have won back-to-back outright Jayhawk West Championships, joining the 1999 and 2000 teams.
  • Lady Saints Capture Third Straight Conference Title on Sophomore Night

    The Jayhawk Conference runs through Liberal for a third straight year as the No. 8 Seward County volleyball team swept the Independence Pirates 25-8, 25-9, 25-17 to clinch a share of the Jayhawk West on Sophomore Night.  It marks the first time in program history that Seward has won the Jayhawk Conference three years in a row.
  • Lady Saints Inch Closer to Jayhawk Title

    After a sluggish start, the No. 8 Seward County volleyball team bounced back to win their seventh straight match, sweeping the Butler Grizzlies on Dig Pink Night, 25-21, 25-16, 25-14. Seward sits just one game away from clinching a share of the Jayhawk West title for a third straight year.
  • Lady Saints Sweep Beavers; Stay Perfect in Jayhawk

    The No. 8 Seward County volleyball team escaped with a win over the Pratt Beavers in the Beaver Dome on Wednesday, winning 3-0 in three close sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-16). The Lady Saints are now just two wins away from securing a third consecutive Jayhawk West Championship.

    The Seward County volleyball team stayed perfect in conference play Monday night, sweeping the Barton Cougars 26-24, 25-16, 25-20 in Great Bend. The win pushes Seward’s conference win streak to 35 matches.
  • Lady Saints Volleyball to Host "Dig Pink" Night on Friday, Oct. 19

    In conjunction with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Seward County volleyball team will hold its annual “Dig Pink” fundraiser match on Friday, October 19, when the Lady Saints take on the Butler Grizzlies in the Greenhouse at 5:30 p.m.
  • Sierra Tabbed NJCAA Player of the Week for Second Time

    For the second time this season, sophomore Luz Sierra has been named an NJCAA Player of the Week, this time for her offensive showing.  Two weeks ago, Sierra earned the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week award. This marks the third NJCAA National Player of the Week award won by a Lady Saint, as Giovanna Tapigliani won the award earlier this season.
  • Trifonov Earns 400th Win; Lady Saints Sweep Cougars

    In what has become a trend, the No. 9 Seward County volleyball team came away with another sweep of a conference opponent, taking down the third-place Barton Cougars 25-20, 25-16, 25-18.  The win pushes Seward to 22-5 overall and 11-0 in conference play, while head coach Tony Trifonov earned his 400th career win as a collegiate head coach, putting him among the elite.

    The No. 11 Seward County volleyball team won their third straight match from a sweep, defeating the Dodge City Conquistadors in straight sets, 25-14, 25-11, 25-17. Seward moves to 21-5 overall, while staying a perfect 10-0 in Jayhawk Conference play.
  • Lady Saints Win 20th, Sweep Rival Hutchinson

    The No. 11 Seward County volleyball pulled off a sweep of their rival, Hutchinson on Saturday night in the greenhouse, winning in straight sets 25-9, 25-19, 25-21.  The win pushes Seward to 20-5 overall and 9-0 in the conference.  The 20 wins marks the 25th straight season that the Lady Saints have won at least 20 matches.
  • Lady Saints Sweep Busters To Get Back In Win Column

    The No. 11 Seward County volleyball team got back to their winning ways on Wednesday, defeating the Garden City Broncbusters 3-0 (25-21, 25-7, 25-18). The win pushed the Lady Saints to 19-5 overall on the season, while staying a perfect 8-0 in conference play.
  • Lady Saints Drop Two In Tyler

    The No. 6 Seward County volleyball (18-5) team dropped two matches in Tyler to finish the TJC Invitational with a 1-3 record. The Lady Saints lost to Blinn in four set () to start the day, before falling to No. 13 Tyler in five sets.

    The No. 6 Seward County volleyball (18-3) team split a pair of matches on Friday afternoon at the Tyler Junior College Invitational.  The Lady Saints were defeated in five sets by No. 7 Navarro (23-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, 11-5) before sweeping North Central Texas (25-15, 25-16, 25-13).
  • Sierra Named NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week

    For a second straight week, a Seward County Lady Saint will be bringing home a NJCAA National Player of the Week Award.  The NJCAA announced Thursday that sophomore Luz Sierra has been named the NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Week. This comes a week after Giovanna Tapigliani was named the NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week.

    The No. 6 Seward County Lady Saints won their 30th straight Jayhawk Conference match after sweeping the Butler Grizzlies 25-13, 25-13, 25-19.
  • Lady Saints Sweep No. 20 Colby; Sit Atop Jayhawk West

    The battle for first place in the Jayhawk West turned into a blowout as the No. 8 Lady Saints cruised past the No. 20 Colby Trojans in straight sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-17.  With the win, Seward now owns sole possession of the Jayhawk West with a perfect 6-0 conference record.
  • Block Party: Seward County Downs No. 2 Iowa Western at Blue Dragon Classic

    Defense became the calling card on Saturday, as the No. 8 Lady Saints beat No. 2 Iowa Western 4-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19) and No. 17 Missouri State West Plains 3-1 (25-15, 8-25, 25-21, 25-21). The win over No. 2 Iowa Western is the highest win over a ranked opponent in Seward County history.
  • Historic Offense Gives Seward Sweep On Day 1 Of Blue Dragon Classic

    The No. 8 Seward County volleyball team (13-2, 5-0) continued their hot streak, sweeping both opponents to open the Blue Dragon Volleyball Invitational.  The Lady Saints defeated Jefferson College 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) before sweeping No. 14 Mineral Area (25-16, 25-17, 25-23).
  • Tapigliani Tabbed NJCAA and AVCA National Player of the Week

    One day after being named the Jayhawk West Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career, sophomore right side Giovanna Tapigliani has been named the NJCAA Division I National Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

    For the eighth time in the past ten matches, the No. 8 Seward County volleyball team has won from a sweep, defeating the visiting Pratt Beavers in consecutive sets 25-15, 25-21, 25-16. The Jayhawk West win pushes the Lady Saints win streak over conference opponents to 28 matches.
  • Lady Saints Come Out On Top In Vegas

    The No. 10 Seward County volleyball team went unscathed in Las Vegas, picking up four wins at the Lady Coyote Volleyball Invitational.  Seward defeated (RV) Yavapai 3-1 and No. 4 Salt Lake 3-0 on Friday, before sweeping Chandler-Gilbert and Southern Nevada on Saturday.
  • Seward County Conquers the Conquistadors

    The No. 10 Seward County Lady Saints rolled to a sweep over the Dodge City Conquistadors inside the Greenhouse Wednesday night, winning 25-9, 25-14, 25-20.  The win pushed Seward’s Jayhawk win streak to 27 games, with 19 of the wins come from a sweep.
  • Lady Saints Exact Revenge on Blue Dragons

    A trio of Lady Saints took the offensive in the Hutchinson Sports Arena as the No. 10 Seward County volleyball (5-2, 2-0) picked up a four-set win (12-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-14) over the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson.  Freshman Djuly Schmorantz led the charge with 22 kills, while sophomores Giovanna Tapigliani (16) kills and Luz Sierra (12) kills, each reached double-digits kills.
