DODGE CITY, Kan. – It was another dominating performance from the No. 13 Seward County women's basketball team, running away with yet another win, defeating Dodge City 88-53.  In the win, Mollie Mounsey joined elite company, becoming just the 8th Lady Saint to reach 1,000 career points.  She finished the night with 17 points, to put her at 1,008 career points.

Seward County (14-2, 10-2) outscored Dodge City 38-8 in the paint as five Lady Saints scored in double figures – Mounsey (17 pts), Silvia Veloso (13 pts), Brennyn Seagler (12 pts), Amy Scott (11 pts) and Vanessa Caro (11 pts). Seward finished the game shooting 49.3 percent (34 of 69) from the field and 34.6 percent (9 of 26) from behind the arc.

The Lady Saints had a well-planned attack on defense, forcing the Conqs into 16 turnovers.  Seward used those turnovers to their advantage, outscoring Dodge 28-8 off turnovers. A season-high eight blocked shots by the Lady Saints helped hold the Conqs to just 29.2 percent (19 of 65) from the floor and 23.1 percent (3 of 13) from deep.

With the game tied at two in the first quarter, the Lady Saints used a 14-0 run to open up the game.  Dodge cut the lead to seven late in the first quarter, but the Lady Saints extended the lead back to 10 by the end, outscoring the Conqs 21-11 in the first quarter.

Needing just three points to get to 1,000, Mounsey came out firing in the third quarter, hitting her first three-point attempt of the game early in the second half.  She wasn't finished yet, scoring eight more points in the quarter.  Her 11-point outburst helped guide Seward to a 28-10 advantage in the third quarter, taking a 70-39 lead.

The fourth quarter was tighter between the two teams, but the Lady Saints still outscored the Conqs by four points in the fourth, extending their lead to 35-points, winning 88-53.
