  • 34 Student-Athletes Receive NJCAA Academic Student Athlete Awards

    For the sixth consecutive year, the Seward County athletic department has seen an increase in the number of student-athletes receiving the NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Award, as 34 Saints and Lady Saints qualified for the 2017-18 school year, topping last years record of 28.

    For a second straight semester, the Seward County student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of over 3.20 as 78 Saints and Lady Saints were named to the Spring Athletic Director Honor Roll.

    By Nacole Miller, Seward County Sports Information LIBERAL, Kan. – For the first time in two years The Seward County Saints (27-26, 13-17) have swept The Hutchinson Blue Dragons (32-19, 17-13)  at home 8-2 in game one and 13-10 in game two.  The Saints also recognized their 11 sophomores before the game for their final series at Brent Gould Field.

    The Seward County baseball team (25-26) continued their hot streak on Tuesday, winning their final non-conference matchup against the Clarendon Bulldogs 17-6.  With the win, the Saints have now won seven of their past ten games.

    For the first time in over a year, the Seward County baseball team (24-26, 11-17) have won a series. After sweeping the Garden City Broncbusters on Thursday, the Saints split with Garden at Brent Gould Field on Monday to win the series 3-1.

    A two-home run day by Cayde Ward helped carry the Seward County baseball team (20-25, 8-16 KJCCC) to a series split with the Dodge City Conquistadors. The Conqs won game one 7-4 before Ward’s 9th inning home run gave Seward a 5-4 win in game two.

    In two high-powered offensive games, the Seward County baseball team (19-24, 7-15 KJCCC) split with the Dodge City Conquistadors, winning game one from the run-rule 20-9, but dropping game two in heart-breaking fashion after blowing a four-run 9th inning lead, 18-17.

    In a battle of explosive bats, it was the Clarendon Bulldogs that came out on top over the Seward County Saints (18-23), putting up the most runs a team has scored against the Saints in over 15 years, winning 27-16.

    Early errors were the difference maker for the Seward County Saints baseball team (18-22, 6-14), getting swept by the No. 18 Barton Cougars to lose their fourth straight conference series.  The Cougars won 3-1 in game one before taking game two 8-4.

    The Seward County baseball team (18-20, 6-12) ended a six-game road losing streak to Barton, splitting with the 18th ranked Cougars in Great Bend. The Saints lost game one 6-2, but bounced back to win game two 7-4.  This marks the second win over a ranked opponent for the Saints this season, defeating No. 13 Trinidad State earlier in the year.

  • Former Saint Kelby Tomlinson Makes Giants Opening Day Roster

    For the second time in his career, former Seward County Saints Kelby Tomlinson has been selected to the opening day roster of the San Francisco Giants.  It was revealed Tuesday night after the Giants made their final cuts to their Opening Day, 25-man roster. 
  • Saints Lose Series Against Cloud For First Time After Sweep

    The Seward County baseball team (16-16, 4-8 KJCCC) couldn’t keep up with the bats of Cloud County Saturday, losing game one 13-1 from the run rule before dropping game two 11-10. Seward went 1-3 against the T-Birds this week, marking the first time in program history that the Saints have lost a four-game series against Cloud County.
